Robert
Tilling has lived in Jersey since 1968 and has held thirty solo exhibitions,
including shows at Exeter University and the Barbican Centre, London.
His work has been selected for many mixed exhibitions including the Royal
Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, the Royal West of England Academy and
the Contemporary Arts Society.
Robert Tilling has gained a number of awards including the Cleveland Drawing Biennale and two at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours for 'the most outstanding work'. He has illustrated over thirty books and publications including books by Charles Causley and Spike Milligan. Robert has also lectured widely at institutions including Tate Britain and Exeter University. Examples of his paintings are included in the collections of the Lodz Museum, Cleveland Museum, Jersey Museum, Shell and Coutts Bank. Working
primarily in watercolour, acrylic, gouache, the majority of his work explores
the landscape and seascape of the Channel Islands. He has also recently
produced a new series of still lifes in charcoal. |
