Paul McGregor

Paul McGregor, born in West Yorkshire in 1962, studied
fine art at Jacob Kramer School of Art and Lancashire
College of Art.

He has exhibited his work in many shows across England,
including the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition;
the Victoria Art Gallery, Bath; the Cleveland International
Drawing Biennale as well as in California. In 1997 and
1999 Paul was selected to be the Artist in Residence at
Burton Agnes Hall, North Yorkshire. Among a number of
awards for painting, he was a finalist in the Winsor and
Newton Young Artists Award.

Paul McGregor works in oils, concentrating on wild
landscapes in England, France and Greece. Appreciating
the work of the Barbizon and Impressionist masters, he
prefers to paint en plein air, so that he can absorb not
just the visual landscape but also the atmosphere of the
place and then translate this experience directly onto the
canvas. Paul is enthused by nature itself and like painters
such as Théodore Rousseau and Ivan Shishkin, he sets
out to capture the changing moods of the landscape.
