Rolando Guillermoprieto

Rolando Guillermoprieto, born in Mexico City, studied in the United States of America, England, Nassau and Mexico. For many years he has lectured on the art, history and culture of Mexico both in English and Spanish to students from all over the world. He has taught art to children, campesinos, indigenous Mexicans, and to many others who have come to study art and culture in Mexico.

On several occasions Rolando has been invited to teach and to be Artist in Residence in institutions in the U.S. including Earlham College, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Cedar Valley College and in elementary schools in New Mexico and New York. He has given lectures on Mexican culture and art in many schools in the U.S. and in Mexico.

Rolando has recently worked very closely in his studio with North American students and others on the art of mural painting, culminating in the hanging of the finished product in public spaces in Mexico. His murals focus on Mexican history and pre-Hispanic mythology with emphasis on the power of mother earth goddesses and Coyolxauhqui, the moon goddess.
