Bob Gale studied art at the West of England College of Art, Bristol.

His first exhibition of large figurative painting was held at the Bristol Student Union in 1965. A decade later he was invited to exhibit at the Max Plank Institute in Germany. There followed two mixed exhibitions in Amsterdam.

In a career that has included stage set design, making jewellery, writing and organising exhibitions, it is painting that has been his enduring passion.
Bob Gale is a regular exhibitor in many West Country galleries and works from a large purpose-built studio in the heart of Bristol.

The Halcyon Days series is largely inspired by journeys and travel in Britain and abroad.
The pictures evoke the distillation of memory and wonderful places.
